Even though we don’t have to worry about snow, extreme cold, or frigid fall nights in the New Orleans region, it’s still worth catching up on vehicle service for fall and winter. These maintenance milestones will help your ride rebound from summer’s heat and ensure that it runs in great shape as the days get shorter and the temperatures cool down.

Get a battery test

A sweltering Metairie summer was probably hard on your battery, and cooler weather can be as well. Getting a battery test here at Crown Buick GMC will help you know if it’s time to install a replacement — and it’s also a good way to ensure that you won’t end up stranded!

Inspect the lights

Fall and winter mean fewer hours of daylight, so it’s extra important to make sure your car’s lights are all working during these months. Switch on your headlamps and taillamps, activate turn signals and brake lights, and look at the daytime running lamps to make sure there aren’t any dim or burned-out bulbs.

Refill the coolant

Fall is a good time to check and replenish your vehicle’s coolant. You can replace any that was lost during the summer, prepping your engine to easily handle colder temps during the winter months. While you’re at it, see if any other fluids need to be topped off as well.

Check the tires

Your tires deserve attention this fall and winter, as colder conditions or big temperature fluctuations can leave them with too little or too much air pressure. It’s a good idea to check your tire pressure regularly — and while you’re at it, make sure your tires have enough tread to grip the road firmly. Not sure if it’s time for new tires? Our team at Crown Buick GMC will be happy to make recommendations.
