How to Replace a Buick Key Fob Battery

First, we’re going to explain how to open a Buick key fob. Then we’ll walk you through the few simple steps to completely replace the Buick key fob battery so you can get back to enjoying convenience features on Metairie roads. When learning how to take apart Buick key fobs, you’ll find that there’s not much to it. Before you start, make sure you have a CR2032 battery available, then follow the steps below:

  1. There is a small button located on one side of the key fob casing. Simply press the button to open the case and gain direct access to the metal key.
  2. Remove the key and use it to pry open the key fob case. If your key fob does not have a metal key, you can use a small flat head screwdriver to pop open the case on the side.
  3. Note which side (positive or negative) of the old battery is facing you before you remove it. Carefully fit the new battery in the slot.
  4. Put the cover back on the fob. You’ll know it’s secure when you hear a click.
